Regular Dental Visits
There are several important reasons why you should regularly schedule check-ups with your dentist. Only by visiting the dental office can the hardened deposits of plaque (called tartar) be removed. Many of the food, beverage, or tobacco stains that cannot be removed by regular brushing can be removed by professional cleaning. Your dentist will conduct a dental exam to gather information about your oral health. This includes checking for tooth decay and checking dentures to make sure they still fit properly. Your dentist will also check for the presence of oral lesions.
Another reason that regular dental check-ups are important is because, unfortunately, there are several medical conditions that have symptoms that can appear in the mouth, including diabetes, nutritional and vitamin deficiencies, and hormonal irregularities. Your dentist will also check for the presence of periodontal disease, which affects three out of four adults at some time in their lives. Many times, patients are unaware that they have a periodontal disease until it has progressed to a more advanced stage. Your dentist can also screen for precancerous changes in the oral tissue to help detect cancer at a stage when it can be more successfully treated by checking your neck and oral tissues for lumps, masses, growths, red or white patches or recurring sore areas.
A healthy, attractive smile can help you feel and look your best. Scheduling regular dental visits will help you obtain the sexy smile that you've always wanted.
